A Little Bit of a Kink... But Maybe Not...

Last week I was teaching the pre-professional turns & leaps class and managed to break the fifth metatarsal in my right foot.  What does this mean?  I cannot dance for at least the next 6-8 weeks.  At that point, I go back for more X-rays to check on progress and determine next steps (more time off? begin rehab? etc.).  i was forced to withdraw from my TWU classes and cannot perform in the fall performances for Dallas Dance Company or Muscle Memory Dance Theatre.  I was really looking forward to dancing with both of these amazing groups of dancers.  I will be looking forward to the doctor's release so I can go back to dancing!

In the mean time, I am so happy and feel extremely fortunate to have found Power Pilates.  I knew before all this happened I wanted to pursue power Pilates certifications and take as many classes as I could.  What a blessing to have something I can do while I am in recovery!  The love I had for pilates is only continuing to grow as I learn more about the technique.  I am now Beginner Mat certified and (fortunately!) will be able to continue through Intermediate Mat in a couple weeks before Comprehensive begins.  For anyone looking for an outlet after (or during) injury, this has been the best thing I could have ever hoped for.

This fall I will now be doing my graduate school work with Jacksonville University, teaching at ADA, and fulfilling my apprenticeship for Power Pilates at Classic Pilates.  This was God's way of telling me what to focus on the next few months.  I'm going to be in need of able bodies for some school projects... Putting the thought out into the universe now!  :)
